About eLcThe Elementary Learning Collaborative at Forest Lake Elementary builds its foundation upon the Integrated Curriculum Model as developed by
the College of William and Mary’s Center for Gifted Education. In addition to all of the benefits of the NASA Explorer School program offered at Forest Lake, the Elementary Learning Collaborative magnet is designed to meet the needs of and challenge students with the potential for high achievement through units of study that provide an interdisciplinary approach to instruction. Students will participate in multiple opportunities for the application of 21st Century learning skills: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. The advanced curriculum is designed to be delivered at an accelerated pace. The in-depth instruction is offered in all curricular areas and is supported through inquiry, research, authentic problem-based learning activities, additional speakers, and field studies. |
About Mrs. LaFitteHello! I am Mrs. LaFitte! It is my pleasure to be teaching first grade in the eLc Program at Forest Lake Elementary! This is my 29th year of teaching and I have been a part of the Forest Lake Family for 14 years. In addition to teaching first grade, I have also taught preschool, 2nd and 3rd grades. I received my BA degree from Columbia College, and am certified to teach in elementary and early childhood education, and I am endorsed in gifted and talented education. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading great books and running with my dog, Hunter.
