Today the first grade eLc students had the opportunity to participate in an "Hour of Code". This is an introduction to computer science skills for students. Students learned how to tell the computer what actions the character should take to complete a maze. Everyone loved it! I have added a link to the website on my eLc First Grade Symbaloo so the students may code at home!
For the past several weeks we have been learning about many aspects of a community - what people do in a community, the differences between needs and wants, good and services, and how all the parts of a community affect each other. This week, we began constructing our own community mural. The students began by brainstorming a list of important places in the community and choosing one they would like to make. They worked in pairs to design and construct their building's structure and details. Then they wrote about what role their place plays in the community. I will post a picture of the mural before Winter Break! |
